Il Pozzo (lit. The Well), located in the municipality Borgo San Lorenzo, is a tiny rural village about two kilometres away from Ronta in Mugello, whose origins are lost in the mists of time. Attached to the hills that herald the Monte Giuvigiana and the Apennines, which here separate Tuscany from Romagna, it lies about 500 metres above sea level, surrounded by the last olive groves and great forests of chestnut trees. In the Ugolini estate chestnuts are still picked and olives cultivated in the manner of old times, trying to have the utmost respect for the environment and the simple but essential things that still can be found at Il Pozzo.
The holiday apartments are made from the old existing farm house and some outbuildings; they have been restored over the years, but have maintained the aspect and taste of the rural houses of yore.
They are all independent, with individual heating and some also equipped with a fireplace. They consist of an equipped kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a small bedroom or living room with sofa bed. Outside you can relax in spacious green areas surrounded by large trees, equipped with tables and barbecue. The location of these holiday homes invites you to go for long walks both on foot, along the paths of the CAI (Italain Alpine Club), which branch off winding through the Apennines, or riding a mountain bike.
About two kilometres away there is the railway station of Ronta, from which in just 45 minutes you can easily reach Florence. You can also reach all the most beautiful and important locations of the Mugello, located within a radius of just a few kilometres, from Giotto’s birthplace in Vicchio to Cafaggiolo Castle, a former residence of the Medici, lake Bilancino, the beach of the Mugello, Scarperia - with its castle and the modern racing circuit, and finally the Outlet in Barberino, for an break devoted to shopping.
