Provincia di Grosseto
The province of Grosseto is the most southern one, and in some ways the most uncontaminated one of all the Tuscan provinces; the flat stretch of coast constitutes the Tuscan part of the Maremma – once malarial area and infested with brigands and it is today one of the most lively tourist parts of the area, with the towns of Porto Santo Stefano (on the promontory of the Mountain Argentario), Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, Follonica. Inland, the province includes the hill area of the Colline Metallifere (Metalliferous Hills) and the highlands of Monte Amiata.
