Province of Pisa
Pisa is universally known for its main monument of Piazza dei Miracoli; the famous Leaning Tower, recently made safe and opened back to the public. This city, being a dozen kilometres away from the sea, was in the past by the coast and was one of the most powerful maritime republics, contesting the Mediterranean rule with Genoa, Amalfi and Venice. It is worth mentioning and visiting Pisa’s province Volterra.
